Dr. Victoria Degeler (IvI, INDElab) and Prof. Yurii Dorofieiev (National Technical University "Kharkiv Polytechnic Institute", Ukraine) have been granted €25,000. This funding will allow the addition of a two-year effort of a new Ukrainian partner to the existing consortium in the ongoing NWO Smart Industry project “DiTEC: Digital Twins for Evolutionary Changes in Water Networks”, which is coordinated by Victoria. The DiTEC project develops an evolutionary approach to real-time monitoring of water networks that detects inconsistency between measured sensor data and the expected situation, and performs real-time model update without needing additional calibration. The effort by the Ukrainian partner will make it possible to supplement the system with an adequate mathematical model, as well as to automate the decision-making process regarding the network structure and operating modes of the controlled elements of the water supply system under changing operation scenarios.
