As part of the ICAI Discovery Lab, PhD student Corey Harper led a team from INDE Lab and Elsevier Labs that won the best task paper award at The 15th International Workshop on Semantic Evaluation (SemEval-2021). SemEval is a world leading venue for shared tasks in natural language processing.

The task, MeasEval, focused on the extraction of quantitative measurements from scientific text including their quantities, units, what item was being measured, and other mentioned attributes, as well as relations between them. 19 teams participated in the task defining a new state-of-the-art on this task.
