The different pillars of the Informatics Institute, education, research and business, are connected with each other.

Students can do research projects and/or follow internships at the different research groups or with one of the (business) partners of the Informatics Institute. Special thesis fairs are organized for this purpose. These student activities can result in publications, presentations at conferences and best paper awards.

Enterprising students and researchers who see opportunities to do more with their academic expertise can apply for support from the Amsterdam Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE) and the Innovation Exchange Amsterdam (IXA).

Another option is to follow courses how to set up your own business with other students and/or researchers. Students can apply for support from the Amsterdam Center for Entrepreneurship (ACE) and the Innovation Exchange Amsterdam (IXA). Examples of start-ups are AIIR and 3Duniversum. Some of them are located at Startup Village at Amsterdam Science Park.

With their newly acquired knowledge, the students contribute to scientific research and to innovation in the various areas of Dutch society. An overview you will find under Highlights.
