When asked about the vison for she has for GSI she replies enthusiastically: ‘I see the societal and scientific relevance of the studies we offer within our Graduate School every day. In our constantly evolving field it is important that we form our students to tackle the big societal problems of the 21st century, offering them a solid foundation. My vision for the GSI of/in the coming years is that we will, through all our programmes, maintain this important link between society and science and continue to form the successful future professionals and researchers in the field.’
Apart from being the new director of GSI Paola also leads the Multiscale Networked Systems group at IvI and her research interest is primarily on the development of future internet architectures: "I am researching how the Internet of the Future can be smarter, more secure and more transparent. We want to continue to have an the Internet that is a collaborative structure, while we properly protect users and nodes from attacks. We want to address the emerging needs of the net-citizens to see what happens with their data. This is possible thanks to increase levels of programmability and control and this is the focus of my research". Read more about Paola’s research in this article.
