There are many dangers and risks of deepfakes. But there are also positive developments such as the use of deepfakes for victims with PTSD and moral injury.

Professor Theo Gevers c.s. conducted the very first research on perpetrator confrontation using deepfake technology with victims with sexual violence-related PTSD and moral injury. The results are published in a scholarly article in the special issue of Frontiers in Psychiatry.

The platform deeptherapy.ai is developed by 3DUniversum (spin-off UvA). DeepTherapy is an online communication platform for practitioners to enter into conversation with inaccessible people through self-controlled video animations via Zoom.

A live intervention was broadcast on TV, and Theo Gevers talks about it in different newspapers.
