Sennay Ghebreab, associate professor of Socially- Intelligent AI, received the Black Achievement Award 2021. Ghebreab received the Black Achievement Award in the category Science and Education for his academic contributions to inclusive artificial intelligence and for his social engagement with diaspora communities.

Sennay Ghebreab was one of fifteen nominees for the Black Achievement Awards that was presented for the third time. These awards are presented to people who excel in their profession or otherwise, namely: Sport, Art and Culture, Science and Education, People and Society.

The award was given at the Black Achievement Gala in the DeLaMar Theater in Amsterdam on Monday 1 November by  Jennifer DeWitt Walsh, the Consul General of the United States Embassy.
