In the field of computer science the Informatics Institute is number 45 and within Europe, it holds the 12th place of all CS departments.  In 2019 was Computer Science & Information Systems of the UvA listed in the group 51-100.

QS ranks subject areas on the basis of four criteria: employer reputation, academic reputation, citations and H-index. The latter criterion links the impact (number of citations) to the scope (number of publications) of a researcher’s work.
