Zhao will lead the work package for software development of the common solutions for environmental RIs on the ESFRI roadmap and landmark programmes. The UvA will also provide virtual infrastructure optimization and community knowledge base solutions for the project.
FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable and Reusable) data management services are crucial for enabling scientists to perform data-centric, system-level and interdisciplinary research in environmental and earth science; however, the technical gaps among different research infrastructures make achieving interoperable and open science a challenge. The ENVRI-FAIR project exploits the reference model guided approach and service portfolio developed in the Data for Science theme of the ENVRI-PLUS project to focus the integration of an operational FAIR compliant data management system for RIs with the upcoming European Open Science Cloud (EOSC).
ENVRI-FAIR (ENVironmental Research Infrastructures building Fair services Accessible for society, Innovation and Research) is an EU H2020 project recently granted under the H2020 INFRAEOSC call. ENVRI-FAIR is a continuation of the effort in the FP7 ENVRI and H2020 ENVRI-PLUS projects (www.envriplus.eu) to provide interoperable and reusable solutions for the cluster of research infrastructures (RIs) in the various environmental science sub-domains of atmosphere, marine, solid earth and biodiversity.
The project has 37 partners and will be coordinated by German FZ-Julich. The project will last four years.
