Shared representation and awareness between entities

Computer Science

PhD defence ceremony

When multiple entities, such as ships, are threatened by hostile objects they can benefit from coordinating action towards those objects. To enable coordination the ships need to share information about these objects to create an 'identical shared awareness'. Unfortunately, optimal identical shared awareness is often not possible due to limited communication capabilities, particularly when the system includes complex sensors that generate vast quantities of data. Eelke van Foeken's research focuses on optimising awareness under communication constraints.
